    Effective date: June 24, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 24, 2026

Askube (“Askube”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is an independent service operated as a sole proprietorship based in India. It runs the website getaskube.com and the connected application (together, the “Service”). The Service turns videos and audio — from a YouTube link, an uploaded file, or a Google Drive link you share — into a transcript you can chat with and a set of ready-to-post deliverables such as social posts, threads, newsletters, titles, timestamped overviews, and short video clips. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why, how we use it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. Please read it carefully.

    1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide via Google Sign-In

We use Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0) for authentication. When you sign in with Google, we receive the following information from Google:

    • Your full name
    • Your email address
    • Your Google profile picture URL
    • A unique Google account identifier

We use this information solely to create and manage your Askube account. We do not use your Google data to serve advertisements or share it with third-party marketers. We request only your basic profile and email address. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Contacts, Google Calendar, or read-write access to your Google Drive.

1.2 Content You Submit and Generate

The Service is built around content you give it. Depending on how you use Askube, we receive and store:

    • YouTube video URLs and YouTube channel URLs you submit for transcription, analysis, or auto-monitoring.
    • Audio and video files you upload directly to the Service.
    • Files you import by pasting a shareable Google Drive link (we download the file you link to in order to process it).
    • Transcripts produced from your media, including speaker segments and timestamps.
    • Chat messages and questions you send when chatting with a transcript.
    • Content you generate or edit (social posts, X/Twitter threads, LinkedIn posts, newsletters, reel scripts, titles, timestamped overviews, key topics, and short video clips).
    • Workspace settings you configure, including workspace names, your brand voice samples, and any custom generation prompts.

We process this content to deliver the features you ask for. We do not use the content you submit to train our own machine-learning models, and we do not sell it.

    1.3 Usage and Account Data

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

    • Your plan tier, upload-minutes used and remaining, short-clip render counts, and AI token usage.
    • Feature usage patterns (which tools you use and how often) and workspace activity.
    • Channel subscriptions you set up for auto-monitoring.
    • IP address and browser/device type (collected by our hosting and infrastructure providers for security and operations).

    1.4 Payment Information

Payments and subscriptions are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record for your purchase (it is the seller of record and handles billing, tax, and invoicing). We do not receive or store your full card number, bank account details, or other sensitive payment credentials. We retain transaction metadata — such as the Dodo session, payment, and subscription identifiers, the plan and billing cadence purchased, the amount, currency, status, and timestamps — for billing, accounting, and support purposes.

    1.5 Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how the Service is used. It collects anonymized, aggregated data about page views and interactions, does not use cookies, and does not track you across other websites.

    1.6 Browser Local Storage

We store your authentication token and basic profile information (name, email, profile picture URL) in your browser's localStorage to keep you signed in between sessions. This data stays on your device and is only sent to our servers as part of authenticated API requests.

    2. How We Use Your Information

    • To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
    • To provide the core features of the Service: transcription, chat with your transcripts, content generation, short-clip rendering, channel monitoring, and export.
    • To enforce plan limits, track your upload-minutes and short-clip usage, and process billing.
    • To respond to support requests and feedback you send to us.
    • To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service based on how it is used.
    • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service.
    • To send transactional emails (e.g., payment confirmations, account or service notices). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in.

    3. Sub-Processors and How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. To run the Service we rely on a small set of trusted vendors (“sub-processors”) that process data on our behalf, only as needed to deliver a feature and under confidentiality obligations:

    • Google — sign-in and authentication (receives the sign-in request; we receive your basic profile and email).
    • Speech-to-text transcription providers — convert the audio/video you submit into a transcript.
    • Anthropic (Claude) — AI model that powers chat with your transcripts and generates your written deliverables. Your transcript and prompts are sent to Anthropic to produce these outputs.
    • Video processing providers — generate and render short video clips from your media.
    • Dodo Payments — Merchant of Record and payment processing for plans and subscriptions.
    • Vercel — application hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
    • Cloud storage and infrastructure providers — secure storage of your uploaded media, transcripts, and generated assets.

Beyond these sub-processors, we share data only in limited circumstances:

    • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority.
    • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
    • With your consent: We may share data in any other circumstance with your explicit consent.

Some of these providers are located outside India, so your information may be processed in other countries with different data-protection laws. We rely on these providers' contractual and security commitments to protect your data in transit and at rest.

    4. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure

Askube's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

    • We only use Google user data to provide and improve the features described in this Privacy Policy.
    • We do not use Google user data to serve advertisements.
    • We do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless you have given explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes, or we are required to do so by law.
    • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Service, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition in which we notify the user and obtain consent as required.

    5. Data Retention

We retain your account data, uploaded media, transcripts, and generated content for as long as your account is active, so your library remains available to you. You can delete an individual media item (and its transcript and generated assets) from within the app at any time. If you request deletion of your account, we will permanently delete your personal information and content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing and tax records). Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

    6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

    • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
    • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
    • Deletion: Delete individual media from the app, or request deletion of your entire account and personal data (subject to legal retention obligations).
    • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
    • Objection / Restriction: Object to or request restriction of certain types of processing.
    • Withdraw consent: Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at prithvi@getaskube.com. We will respond within 30 days.

    7. Third-Party Content and Copyright

When you submit a YouTube URL or other third-party media, Askube fetches and processes that content to produce your transcript and deliverables. You are responsible for the content you submit. By submitting a video or audio source — including any YouTube video — you confirm that you own it or otherwise have the rights necessary to transcribe, copy, and repurpose it. Processing content you do not have rights to may infringe copyright and may violate YouTube's Terms of Service. See our Terms of Service for the full details of this commitment.

    8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and secure storage practices for data at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

    9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

    10. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with or links to the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

    • Google (authentication, optional Drive-link import) — policies.google.com/privacy
    • YouTube (public video and channel data) — youtube.com/t/privacy_at_youtube

    11. Changes to This Policy

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
